| The Workshop
This workshop includes 5 full days of
shooting in the field complete with technical execution instructions, 6
nights accommodation in beautiful downtown Ottawa and daily round trip
transportation from your hotel to the field. The workshop groups will
be kept small to allow better responses to your individual needs.
Techniques learned to produce world class images of this magnificent bird include:
- Locating and approaching the owls
- Understanding owl behaviors
- Explanation of directional light and wind direction
- Setting the right exposure (white birds need special attention...)
- Flight and static photography techniques
- Creating high visual impact images
We recommend a variety of focal lengths
for this workshop, anywhere from a wide angle to a long lens (500mm and
higher) for tight close up. This will allow you to create a highly
diverse and marketable Snowy owl portfolio.
The cost for the workshop is $2700.00CAN and does not include meals, drinks and airfare to Ottawa.

Considerations
- The Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport is located approx 20 minutes from the downtown area and taxies are always at your disposal once you touchdown in Ottawa.
- You will be shooting in open fields in the cold months of January and February, have a look at the current weather
conditions to adequately prepare yourself for the trip. We recommend
proper clothing such as snow pants, snow boots, winter jacket, tuque
(warm hat) and gloves/mitts for a comfortable experience. You may also
consider bringing some Sunscreen lotion (SPF30) and Sunglasses with UV
protection to protect your skin and eyes from damaging sunrays.
